Job Description

The HR Benefits & Recruiting Intern will provide administrative support to the Benefits and Recruiting Department. The ideal candidate is working towards their college degree in a field related to business or HR. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide a variety of administrative support functions.
  • Field incoming Recruiting Department calls, taking messages as needed, transferring calls to the appropriate person or department.  Call volume can be high at times.
  • Work with Recruiters to create and post job requisitions in Taleo.
  • Post and track current job openings as directed with external job sites i.e., Craigslist, Indeed, LinkedIn, CareerBuilder, State of AK Job bank and other various resources.  May also assist with social media or Print job postings/advertisements.
  • Follow up on job offers to candidates to ensure all information of the offer have been provided and that the candidate has all the information to start the hiring process.
  • Assist with Offer Letters, job offers and onboarding support.
  • Assist applicants with general inquiries and the application process.
  • Assist with the coordination and participates in job fairs, job clubs or recruitment related events.
  • Participate in meetings that pertain to Recruiting.
  • Present weekly benefit orientations to new hires and follow up on outstanding new hire benefit enrollments.
  • Operates in a strict climate of confidentiality and requires extensive discretion in conducting day-to-day activities.
  • Follow up with team members to ensure that deliverables are met.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

 

This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels from many diverse backgrounds. As unique situations present themselves, the Recruiting Coordinator must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the public image.  Experience working with Alaska Native cultures is critical for success.

Qualifications

  • A NANA shareholder - NANA shareholders own stock in NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.
  • Currently enrolled in college and be at least a sophomore.
  • Interest in Human Resources, Benefits, Employee Relations, Compensation, or a related career path preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Skills testing will be administered and evaluated as part of the interview and selection process.
  • Must be tech-savvy and be able to operate proficiently on a computer.
  • Must have intermediate MS Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be organized and have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally; this includes friendly customer service to all internal & external customers.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier (clear three-year record with no DUI’s in the past five years).
  • Must have the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able maintain confidentiality.
  • Must type at least 50 words per minute. 
  • Previous administrative experience desired.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment.

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
