Job Description

The Accounting and Finance Intern will join the current NRC Accounting Department with the expectation that they will play an integral role in moving forward key finance and accounting projects. The Accounting and Finance Intern will have the opportunities to work with NRC Accounting, Treasury, Financial Reporting and Tax. The intern will assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, accounting reconciliation, central treasury reporting, and other projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

Starting as an Accounting and Finance Intern, you will be exposed to basic accounting procedures and principles ranging from accounts payable and receivable systems to financial reporting and analysis. Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Involved in A/P and A/R functions; cash receipts, posting payables and associated reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparation of Central Treasury daily reports.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

This position requires prioritization of work assignments. This level requires specialized skills and a significant body of knowledge of the assigned area’s activities. This position will have only general or indirect supervision and requires the exercise of independent judgment in matters of significance to the Company. It also requires the ability to adapt to new work situations and make recommendations for improvements in the assigned work field.

 

The following are basic minimum requirements:

  • Must be a NANA shareholder. NANA shareholders own stock in NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.
  • Must be enrolled in an Undergraduate/Graduate degree program in Accounting, Finance, or related field and completed one semester.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Completed at least Sophomore level classes towards their major requirements, including having taken a basic accounting class.
  • 3.0 GPA or better
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills and solid communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Great attitude and eagerness to learn.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment.

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
