Job Description

This position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, or serving duties in a commercial hotel food service area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Washes food service area objects by hand or with cleaning equipment. 
  • Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner. 
  • Cleans, sweep, mop and wipe down all general food service areas and equipment. 
  • Removes garbage from assigned areas, sets up or breaks down tables, etc. 
  • May assist cooks or others as needed and coordinates one’s own activities with other food service activities and requirements. 
  • Properly, safely and efficiently prepare food products while following standard food-handling procedures.
  • Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects. 
  • May maintain a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines. 
  • May stock storage areas with various products. 
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, callouts, etc.
  • Food Handler card, Alaska Food Workers card, or ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.


Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Some prior experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of cleaning equipment/processes or a suitability for and interest in this type of work, preferred.
