Job Description

Reporting to the Sr Director, NANA Works, the Career Advisor plays a crucial role in building and maintaining a robust NANA Shareholder talent pool and talent bank for NANA, its companies, business partners and affiliates. This role involves sourcing, engaging and nurturing relationships with NANA Shareholders for current and future job openings and workforce opportunities as well as training, and development opportunities.  This position may also support special projects and initiatives related to the Shareholder talent bank, education, training, or talent initiatives.

 

**This position may be based out of one of NANA’s Corporate Offices in Anchorage, AK or Kotzebue, AK. NANA will also consider candidates located in one of the NANA region villages, subject to candidate qualifications, available NANA Office space and company approval.  Hiring to fill multiple vacancies**

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with shareholders in assisting and advising them in becoming prepared and qualified for employment anywhere that best suits their employment/career skills, abilities, and interests. The interaction may be in person, over the phone, or online.
  • Identify key skills and career paths to focus on for talent pool development and shareholder engagement and development.
  • Maintain the shareholder talent bank database by creating, updating, and maintaining accurate shareholder profiles. Keep track of shareholder information, skills, education, preferences, and experience.
  • Offer shareholders guidance in creating effective resumes, cover letters, and other job application materials
  • Regularly engage with shareholders to provide updates regarding the relevant workforce, training and development options, opportunities, job openings and industry insights.
  • Search for qualified shareholder candidates based on relevant job criteria, using computer databases, networking, internet recruiting resources, cold calls, media, employee referrals and other sources to locate both active and passive shareholder candidates.
  • Establishes rapport and refers shareholders to NANA companies, NANA Partners and external businesses, and communities that are seeking shareholder talent.
  • Promote NANA as an employer of choice by informing potential shareholder candidates about career, training, and development opportunities at NANA Companies, with NANA partners and external businesses.
  • Work closely with the Shareholder Relations Coordinators (SRCs), NANA North Human Resources team, and the Shareholder Relations team who all utilize the talent bank.
  • May participate in in-region recruitment trips, career fairs, talent bank related travel, and shareholder meetings as required.
  • Generate regular reports on size, quality and metrics on shareholder engagement and shareholder talent referrals.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be a NANA Shareholder. NANA Shareholders own stock in NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.
  • At least (2) years recruiting, staffing, hiring, HR, education, workforce development, training/development, advanced administrative or related experience required.
  • Must have at least one (1) years’ experience working in a database or database management system.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time for career fairs or talent bank initiatives or outreach events, this may include travel to the NANA region.
  • Must have intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (candidates will be tested on competency level).
  • Knowledge of HR personnel practices and principles.
  • Excellent planning, time management, decision-making skills, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external business connections.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license or a willingness to obtain one, and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NANA’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that are familiar with NANA’s Region and NANA’s Family of Companies.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that have experience working with AI in the workplace.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment, unless traveling in remote Alaska and work environments may vary and be less than ideal.

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: Up to 25% of the time. Employees may travel throughout Alaska and/or to remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes, and ATVs.   Travel to and from the worksite will be provided and arranged by NANA.

The position requires reading, detailed work, problem solving, interactions with other companies including other NANA companies, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, will require the employee in the position to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and handle constant interruptions.
