Job Description

This Van Driver position provides safe transportation to and from the Elders and Youth Conference and the Alaska Federation of Natives Convention to various locations in and around Anchorage on a regular basis. Must have a valid Driver's License and three (3) year good driving record.

 

Non-Local Candidates: We encourage qualified candidates who are not currently based in Anchorage, AK to apply. If selected, NANA will cover travel expenses, provide lodging, and offer per diem allowances to support your temporary stay in Anchorage for the duration of the assignment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all times.
  • Ensure that all luggage is on board for all passengers.
  • Only the driver will load/unload luggage from the vehicle.
  • Repeatedly moves luggage or packages weighing at least 30 lbs.
  • Transports guest to and from the hotel and the airport to AFN.
  • Upon arrival at assigned location, refer passengers to their needed locations and assist with unloading luggage and other materials.
  • Bring luggage into the lobby or to the location as time permits.
  • Maintain vehicle mileage log at beginning and end of each trip indicating mileage, time, name and date.
  • Ensure the vehicle has at least 1/2 tank of gasoline at all times.
  • Interior cleaning: pick up loose debris from the floor. 
  • Daily vacuum floors, clean windows, wipe seats, seat ledges and other surfaces as necessary.
  • Know all safety and vehicle regulations and emergency procedures and how to act upon them.
  • Ensures children are always seated and are supplied with a child safety seat.
  • Report all accidents and/or traffic violations immediately.
  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company, including, but not limited to, those contained in the associate handbook.
  • Always wear proper clothing as specified by the supervisor.
  • Employee will be driving NANA provided vehicles.
  • Other related duties may also be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a NANA shareholder. NANA shareholders own stock in NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable 3-year driving record to be eligible under NANA’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • Some hospitality industry or related experience which evidences some suitability for this type of work preferred.
  • Must be able to work October 12 - October 21, 2024 (Driving is scheduled to end October 19, but if weather impacts travel, drivers will be needed beyond October 20, 2024).

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled.  May be exposed to outdoor, fall weather conditions.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.

Description of environment: This is a driving position that would take place in a vehicle.

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
