Job Description

The Broadband Project Intern will support NANA’s Broadband Engineering Team by completing assigned projects and general administrative tasks related to NANA’s broadband project development and buildout.

 

Internships will run from June 2nd – August 3rd.    

Responsibilities

  • Assists with coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of NANA’s broadband project.
  • Assists with preparing grant reports for a timely briefing on the status of all broadband projects.
  • Assist the broadband team in achieving their objectives as set forth by the Project Superintendent.
  • Responsible for supporting the completion of internal and external reports; progress, scheduling, cost, scope, earned value, and other areas of the project.
  • Responsible for assisting in the documentation process of procedures utilized.
  • Must be able and willing to travel, as required, to village communities. 
  • Receive, organize, coordinate travel and document village engagement sessions.
  • Communicates with villages, city and/or tribal governments regarding the broadband project.
  • Provide administrative support for the broadband team as needed.
  • Scan, copy or print documents for special projects, documenting purposes or records needs.
  • May answer incoming calls, may also make outgoing calls as needed to support activities, projects, or day-to day work activity.
  • Operate in a climate of confidentiality requiring discretion.
  • Other duties may be assigned, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be a NANA shareholder. NANA shareholders own stock in NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be currently enrolled in college or a vocational school full-time and have completed one semester of postsecondary education. 
  • Must be currently enrolled in college pursuing Engineering, Telecommunications, or Business, Rural Development, or similar field.
  • Have good communication skills to work with NANA management and local leaders.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience with accounting, broadband network infrastructure, community planning, construction, management, project management, procurement, telecommunications, and/or utility operations preferred, but not required.
  • A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NANA’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • Preferably a Junior or Senior level college student.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment mostly and travel to villages occasionally. 

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

The position requires reading, detailed work, problem solving, interactions with other companies including other NANA companies, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, will require the employee in the position to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and handle constant interruptions.
